NANYANG POLYTECHNIC

One of the main highlights during our Siri Kembara Akademik Penerbitan (SIKAP) trip to Singapore was the academic trip to the universities. On our first day in Singapore, we visited the Nanyang Polytechnic that is located in Ang Mo Kio. We went to Nanyang Polytechnic by bus straight from the Woodlands Checkpoint after entering Singapore. We were given the chance to visit Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive & Digital Media that offers a similar course as ours. The School of Interactive & Digital Media (SIDM) is the first school in Singapore to offer diploma courses in Animation, Games (both Game Art & Design, and Game Development & Technology), Motion Graphics & Broadcast Design, Digital Visual Effects and Interaction Design. When we first arrived at Nanyang Polytechnic, we were amazed by the facilities that Nanyang Polytechnic has.

We were welcomed warmly by Mr. Azhar Abdul Salam who is a senior lecturer for the School of Interactive & Digital Media. Mr. Azhar brought us to their faculty’s studio where we were given a simple brief about what Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive & Digital Media offers for their students. We were very impressed with their studio because as students, we would enjoy using the studio for assignments purpose for sure. After the simple brief, we were given a tour around the studio and took some photos. Mr. Azhar then brought us to their Media Hub where their final year students are working on their final year projects. In the Media Hub, there are a few stations where each students are assigned to according to their tasks. We were very excited when we entered the Media Hub because we think that the Media Hub can be a good place where the sequences in our faculty can work together. A few of their final year students even showed us some of their works that they are working on. After the Media Hub, Mr. Azhar brought us to Nanyang Polytechnic’s official merchandise store where their Business students are actually in charge of the store as one of their syllabus. After the store visit, we bid farewell to Mr. Azhar and Nanyang Polytechnic for their warm hospitality.

It was a great experience for all of us as the polytechnic itself is great and mind blowing! The facilities, building and their water fountain amazed us! See you soon Nanyang Polytechnic!
